Frequently asked questions
What does my donation do?
Gifts on Y Day of Giving support neighbors at your local Y branch who may need financial assistance, which has an immediate impact. From memberships to youth sports fees to childcare coverage, your gift of any amount will make a BIG difference.
Does my membership count as a donation to the Y?
No. A donation to your local Y ensures all families can access essential programs, no matter their financial situation. While membership fees keep our facilities running, donations provide financial assistance during tough times like job loss or illness. Your support helps families continue to access childcare, swim lessons, and wellness programs that keep them healthy, strong, and connected in their community.
Is there a minimum gift?
$1.00 is the minimum. Every giver matters. Every gift matters. That’s what Y Day of Giving is all about.
Will my employer match my gift?
Your gift may be eligible for a matching gift through your employer. Use your work email while donating to see if your employer will match your donation to the Y.
Do I have to be a Y member?
No. Guests, friends, families, staff, and anyone in the community are invited to join in the Y Day of Giving because it’s a day about supporting something that matters to all of us.
Do I have to give online, or can I participate in another way?
You are welcome to contact our team directly via email at giving@philaymca.org. Cash or checks are accepted at your local Y branch membership desk. We ask that you fill a donor card so we can properly thank you later. (Gifts for Y Day of Giving are accepted November 13, 2025 from 12:00 am-11:59 pm EST.)
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, your gift to the Y Day of Giving will be tax-deductible and you will receive a tax receipt via email.
